H&M spring style 2012 picks

H&M released their top picks for spring 2012, so I thought I'd select a couple items that caught my eye.

Their latest Conscious collection will land in store 12 April. Some of these pieces here are made from organic cotton and recycled polyester.

Mix n match prints and fabrics maybe a new trend I hop on this season.

I can never get enough of bold accessories against subtle shades - always a style win.

Casual is always king for me. Laid back jersey tops make up to majority of my wardrobe and will continue to this season.

Birthday

Over the weekend I celebrated my 23rd birthday! On saturday I went to Jamie's Italian with a group friends. The food was amazing, sooo filling and good value for money. I didn't get to snap any pics because we were so busy eating and chit chatting but it was all good fun.

Then we moved on to a club in Old St. to continue the antics before rolling in home at 4am and into bed... zzzzzz.

On sunday, my actual birthday, I had family come home for a big feast and I opened some cute gifts and we all tucked into a giant cupcake!

Bienvenido Miami

During a shopping trip last week, I picked up River Island's Spring 2012 Style Insider magazine. It brings the latest collections instore to life through fashion editorials and trend features.

I am in love with the cover shoot, that was photographed by Ellen von Unwerth. It's a Miami-style editorial with tons of vibrant colour, floral print and sex appeal.

The clashing prints are one of my favourite things about this shoot, zebra on leopard, polka dots and floral and paisley with chainmail. It's and fun and lively way to contrast and combine this season's trends.

So I thought I'd create some Miami heat myself and I brought some black tropical shorts from the store.

I team it with a chiffon pink blouse that had floral piping on the buttons. I didn't clash with another print for this outfit but once I've invested in some piercing prints, I'll give you a peak.

Nail art pen

My first attempt at the WAH x Models Own nail art pen was all about getting to grips with both of the functions. On side of the pen is a brush for thick strokes and the other a nib that is for creating fine lines and spots.

I decided to go with some tiny spots across the top half of my nail. With some practice and a steadier hand it should be easy to create intricate designs.

Girls in snapbacks

Word has it that after appearing on ITV’s Jonathan Ross show this weekend clad head-to-toe in cult label BOY London, Rihanna has boosted the sales profits of the clothing brand sold in Selfridges by 45%!

When being photographed out and about in London over the past weeks in BOY London and Trapstar apparel something about Ri-Ri’s casual attire caught my eye - the snapback. Her outfit hasn’t been complete without one.

Now all of a sudden it’s no longer guys rocking the flat caps, so many girls are into this style too. A few snapback spots I’ve come across already are Teyana Taylor, Rita Ora, Ciara, (but she’s been on this from a while back).

Snapback hats have been popping up on the crowns of celebs for a while now but with the exposure their getting from this popstar, I suspect it won’t be long until this trend trickles into the mainstream.

Are you loving girls with snapback style?

Chocolate chip fairy cakes recipe

A favourite childhood memory of mine is baking fairy cakes, my siblings and I used to make fruit fairy cakes from an old recipe book. I still like to make the buns now but use different fillings, this time I added dark chocolate from Green & Blacks.

See the recipe below

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time 15-20 mins
Oven temperature: 190, 375 F, gas 5

Makes 18

You will need:
200g/ 8 oz butter or margarine
200g/ 8 oz caster sugar
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
200g/ 8 oz self-rising flour
75g/ 3 oz chocolate chips

Method:

Place 18 paper cake cases on a baking tray or in two deep bun tin trays.

Cream the butter or margarine with the sugar until light and fluffy.

Tip: Add vanilla essence for added sweet flavour

Gradually beat in the eggs. Carefully fold in the flour and the chocolate chips, using a metal spoon.

Divide the mixture between the paper cases. Bake in a moderately hot oven for 15-20 minutes, or until risen and golden brown. Transfer to wire rack to cool.

Recipe adapted from Hamlyn New All Colour Cookbook

Makeup bag: Sleek Blush

Finally got my hands on the Sleek Blush Rose Gold! I’ve searched high and low for this shade and it is always sold out in Superdrug stores but today I got it.

It’s a really light coral blush and when you blend in onto your skin it leaves a gold shimmer behind, the golden shimmer is quite intense so you wouldn’t need to apply much.

Tweeted @sleekMakeUP Sept 2011

When I couldn’t get hold of the Rose Gold shade I tried Sunrise, which is a light brown blush also a part of the shimmer blush collection.

This comes off slightly orange on my skin but once blended in it creates a brown glow, it wasn’t a bad substitute to the Rose Gold at all.

I also purchased another trusty blush called Flushed, one I had before in the old packaging, for a pink contour on my cheeks.

Have you tried Sleek Makeup’s Blush before? What blushers do you recommend?

Wild things

Style blog shout out to Topshop's tumblr.

Here are a few style inspiration pics for animal print. Leopard and snakeskin are beginning to feature throughout my wardrobe lately. Add hints of this print into an outfit to match bold colours or neutral shades.
